Oil inventories decreased by 4.7 million barrels during the week ended September 30, 2011 according to the weekly petroleum status report from the EIA. The October 5 report also states that gasoline inventories were lower by 1.1 million barrels and inventories of distillate fuels decreased by 700,000 barrels.
Refinery utilization was 87.7%, down 0.1% from the previous week.
